Hair Extension Hacks

Hello! This post is all about hair extension tips, I get asked quite a few questions about how I take care of mine so I hope this post will answer some questions!

1. Try to wash them as few times as possible, What I mean by this is wear them around 10-15 times before you wash them again, washing them can make them very dry and they need way more conditioner on them to keep them nice and shiny as they aren't getting any natural oils.

2. If you do wash them, take some time and wash the pieces separately with cool water, make sure to use plenty of conditioner. When you are drying them, lay them out on a towel, brush the hair extension piece flat and hold down the end with the clip so that you can get all of the tangles out! It is important to dry the hair when all the tangles are out anywise the hair extensions will dry tangled, this leads to matted extensions (especially around the top by the clips) so when you put them in you will have lumps and bumps underneath your real hair.

3. An alternative way to dry the hair extensions is to use a coat hanger with clips, the type of hanger that you would use to hang up your skirts or trousers. At first it seems odd hanging up wet pieces of hair, but once they have dried that feel so much better than drying them with a hairdryer. Make sure to put a towel down underneath them because they will drip!

4. When putting them in make sure you give plenty of volume to your roots so that the clips have something to hold on it, if you clip them onto newly washed clean hair, the clips do not hold to the hair properly and also if you don't lightly backcomb your roots it looks very obvious if you're wearing them because the roots with be flat and sleek with a slight bump.

5. When putting them in, try and put them in as low as possible, I personally do this because my hair is fine, if I put the clips in high up my hair parts and you can see that I'm wearing extensions, but by putting them down lower I can blend my hair into them a lot better.

6. When you style your hair extensions, always clip them in and then style them. That way you can blend your own hair into the hair extensions; what I like to do is clip them in, brush my hair into them and then when I use the curling tong my hair is all blending in and the heat that I have applied acts as a glue to keep my real and fake hair together.

7. Give them a trim every once in a while. You have to treat them as good as you treat your real hair for them to last, so if the ends are getting a bit scruffy use a pair of very sharp scissors! DO NOT cut them in a blunt line, always cut upwards if you want the ends to look natural.

Thank you and peace out <3
